Why did you want to lose weight, and what encouraged you to take action and start changing your lifestyle (to try intermittent fasting)?
It was mostly a health action from my annual medical exam results. Needless to say, my results were not good, and I had to make lifestyle changes to prevent health issues – cholesterol and sugar levels. I started exercising, but I hit a plateau immediately. I was working hard (about 5 times a week of mostly cardio work), but my weight and measurements were not moving.
What was your weight goal, and what have you achieved?
I wanted to lose at least 20 lbs, and I’ve lost over 30 lbs so far.
Did you have any struggles or setbacks that kept you dissatisfied with your results? How did you feel back then?
Initially, yes, I’m very much a “snacker”, so that was one of the more difficult things I had to control. Also, my results were not linear – there were weeks when I was staying the same, but I had to push through.
Do you think that the DoFasting app kept you more accountable, and it would be different doing it by yourself?
Definitely, the DoFasting app made tracking so much easier. It helped me keep a higher level of accountability and transparency. The status bars made my status visually clear – no more guessing.
Which method of intermittent fasting worked the best for you?
I started slowly with the 12/12 plan and moved up to a 20-hour fast with a 4-hour feeding window. I could not sustain that for a long time as it conflicted with my schedule. My comfort zone is the 16/8 fasting plan.
How long did it take to see a difference?
I saw drastic improvements within two weeks – much faster than I’ve seen doing exercise alone. After 2 weeks, I got to bring out smaller-sized clothes that I had to keep previously because they didn’t fit me anymore.
When did the DoFasting app come to your horizons?
I came across DoFasting around August ‘22 while searching for a fasting plan and a good diet monitoring app. I came across an IG ad – clicked on it to see what the app had to offer.
Do you feel any significant health improvements? Increased energy levels or anything similar?
It took me about 2 weeks to fully adjust, but there’s a general improvement in my overall energy level.
What would you like to tell others who are starting their journey?
Consistency is key. The plan will get you there, but results vary per individual. It’s important to listen to your body to figure out what’s best for you and not rush for results.
Do you have any tips or anything interesting to share about your journey?
Diligence in tracking food intake through the app was the one thing that helped me a lot. The app helped me see how I was undercounting my calorie intake.
What are your further goals?
My goal now is just to maintain the program I have now (16/8). I’ve also signed up for a half marathon in March.
Do you plan to recommend the app to your friends or family members?
Yes, encourage my friends who’ve seen my results to try the app.
